★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was recommend to this law firm to assist me with obtaining Disability benefits. What a disaster! At the age of 49 I was unfortunate enough to suffer a massive Hemorrhagic Stroke. My particular Brain Hemorrhage was severe enough to give me a mortality rate of 3% so I wasn’t supposed to survive the stroke, and if I did; it was anticipated that I’d be bound to a wheelchair and in need of full time assistance for the remainder of my life.At best, I now had a Traumatic Brain Injury and the entire left side of my body was paralyzed!I refused to accept this fate and would never admit or concede to a life like that. So I worked my butt off! At first my experience with U.D.P.C. Gave me hope that at least financially I’d be ok and be able to provide myself and small family with enough to survive. I’ve worked my entire life and always paid into Social Security just for this reason. (Not by choice, but because it’s mandatory) Given the choice, I’d have opted to invest that money personally in something that had a better and more flexible return than just a small amount of money to barely survive.Fully anticipating something like this would never happen… But in the event it did, it gave me some comfort knowing I’d be taken care of by the government. The process of qualifying for disability was grueling! Just the gathering of documentation and proof I had suffered the hemorrhage was beyond reasonable! I mean I was hospitalized for nearly 5 months and in the ICU for almost a month. So you’d think the records would be simple to obtain, but they were not! Especially considering my Brain was completely flooded with blood and had been suffocated long enough to cause significant damage.Needless to say, my brain was not functioning properly and I needed help badly! Everything was confusing to me! So, in hindsight; getting the right law firm was even more important. After a year of rounding up the required documents and proof of my hemorrhage, Ben Johnston and his team submitted my claim warning me that it’s not likely to be approved on the first submission and said it may take several submissions before Social Security would approve the claim. However, they were confident that it would be approved eventually and to just keep at it. So I did! I’m not one to give up and kept working on me, my paralyzed body and barely functioning brain. Two more times they submitted my claim resulting in a rejection. SS felt I was fine and could adequately work, however; in the real world. I could not. I’d spent most of my professional life as a police officer and could no longer pass the PT exam to qualify for and return to that job. I also built and owned an Investigative agency that was flourishing when I suffered the Brain Hemorrhage. After which over 90% of my clients were skeptical about my abilities to properly handle their cases, so my caseloads went from over 20 clients per month to about .5 per month. And the ones I did retain were from the governments “Criminal Justice Act” and paid less than half of my normal rate. But I was thankful for the work, and if I’m being honest; those are the cases that brought my brain back online! This entire time, I’m living off a “go fund me” account and my fiancé that willingly stuck with me through it all. After the 3rd denial from Social Security, I received notice from my attorney Ben Johnston at Utah Disability Law, that they were firing me as a client and that they couldn’t represent me any longer! Just another massive blow to me!I had spent the last three years jumping through the hoops of S.S. And diligently following the direction of this firm, only to be told there is nothing they can do for me and that I’d have to find other representation and start over!

August 30 · Nana LoveThis is going to be long, but I can't make it shorter. I've tried.I met Benjamin Johnston about 15 years ago when he was junior partner at another firm. I was weary, frustrated and demoralized after going through the social security process myself and was reluctant to try to explain my circumstances to an outsider. Mr. Johnston was kind and patient. When we needed to discuss personal aspects he was respectful and understanding. By the end of our first visit I didn't feel anything like I expected I would. I felt encouraged, reassured and happy. It was possible! I had an ally! More than that. I had a buffer between me and SS. What had been so painful and dreadful before had become something only annoying. I wasn't in it alone and didn't have to move forward on anything without help.I think the process took 3 years. We had to go back and forth with denials and ended up with a judge. Through all that time I never felt like I was imposing on or annoying any of his staff. I had a lot of questions and they answered them all. They were all so caring, patient and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with their explanations. It was so comforting to see Mr Johnston at the courthouse! Like usual he explained everything that was going to happen, what was expected of me and how he expected everything to move forward. In front of the judge he was calm and skillful even when I wanted to help and jumped in too soon. When my positive judgment came I think he was as excited as I was. Only then did he accept any payment. After all the hours he and his staff spent with me they hadn't earned a dime! The whole process was repeated with my sister. She had a whole different set of legal problems and had failed to receive SS using another firm after failing on her own. I searched for Mr Johnston. I knew he would take care of her! And he did! Her claim took a similar amount of time and effort, and his kindness and gentleness was evident in himself and all his staff. She had questions and called. She received her verdict a few years ago. Even though it wasn't quite what he wanted he worked hard to make sure she had all she needed.I'm writing this now because our dad died recently and we had a whole new set of questions for Mr. Johnston. How will Dad's legacy affect our SS? He and his staff have again encouraged us to call with all our questions and have been so generous with their time and expertise. He won't take any money this time and said the only payment he would accept was an unbiased Google review. I'm not sure I can do unbiased because he's changed our lives, but I can say the exact truth and that's what I've done. If you want a true advocate, meet Benjamin Johnston.
March 06 · W. NielsonWe had a 7 year filing/legal battle with the SSA in determining my wife's disability which necessitated, after our Appeals Counsel was denied, suing the SSA Commissioner. Most disability attorneys are gathers of "low fruit" and do the minimal work necessary, a numbers game that no doubt rewards them significant gains with minimal effort. Andrew marches to a different drum and was willing to actually advocate for his client, thankfully resulting in a "Fully Favorable Decision." And if one wonders about ethics, the SSA mistakenly overpaid his firm, underpaying us and he directed us how to get it remedied with his full support.
August 12 · David EWords cannot express how grateful I am to this firm, especially Benjamin Johnson and his assistant, Jenna, for their help with my case. They were professional. They were QUICK. They were understanding, sympathetic, and kind. If you are thinking of going with any other company to handle your needs you are crazy! This is where you want to be. No, I'm not related to anyone there nor are they "friends" of mine. I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but when you have people as skilled at their jobs as these folks are, working for you, you have to speak up. They are wonderful!
