These guys hit my mother up for $1,500 to "execute" some boiler-plate documents, and the kid-lawyer they gave the grunt work to didn't take the time to answer such questions of my 6-line email as what's the telephone number of the transfer agent you're referring me to? I had to write 3 emails about a phone number: 2 to get the number from him, and a follow-up to complain that the transfer agent he referred me to didn't answer the questions he didn't answer either. By the way, turns out that transfer agent is going to charge my mother another $600. My mother's coop management company required her to use the services of Turek Roth Grossman to transfer her little 1-bedroom coop apartment into a trust she wanted to set up so that bill-collectors couldn't take it away from her kids in case of catastrophic illness or debility. The lawyers who set up the trust for her would have done the transfer of the coop for free as part of the set up, but the coop mgmt company required her to pay Turek Rother Grossman $1,500 to fill in their standard forms for the transfer, and the mgmt co. charges another $600 to have us sign off on the transfer. They leave it up to us whether we want to consult our own lawyers in addition. You'd think the $2,100 tap on a widow's life savings would at least get you an email salutation by name and couple of direct responses to a couple of direct questions, but no.
