When choosing a lawyer in New York, it is crucial to consider all available information, including both the services offered and the experiences of past clients. What is truly worth choosing about Marquez Sergio is a nuanced matter. On one hand, the firm's list of services indicates a wide-ranging practice that can handle various legal needs, from family law to real estate, which is a convenience. The practice is located in a central area of The Bronx, making it physically accessible for local residents. On the other hand, the provided review from a client raises serious questions about the quality of client service and professional conduct during an initial consultation. The review, which describes the attorney as "rushed, abrupt, and dismissive" and not knowledgeable on a specific tenant issue, is a direct warning to potential clients.
A user considering this attorney should weigh the firm's listed practice areas against the very specific and negative feedback. The review suggests that while the firm may have expertise in certain fields, the client experience may not be consistently positive, particularly in situations where a fee-for-service is not immediately apparent. Given the conflicting nature of the available public data, the decision to engage with this attorney should be made with caution. A direct consultation, perhaps with a clear understanding of the fee structure, would be necessary to determine if the firm's services and professional demeanor align with an individual’s expectations and needs. This careful approach ensures that a user's decision is based on a full and factual understanding of the available information.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I contacted Mr. Marquez via my Employer Assistance Program about a concern that my landlord is trying to tack on additional rent increases that are not legal in our rent stabilized building. He called me back the next business day but when I asked him my question he was rushed, abrupt, and dismissive. I suspect that the landlord is counting on tenants not understanding the 421A program and that Mr. Marquez (as a TENANTS ATTORNEY) would easily be able to explain to me what is and is not allowed to be charged. Without asking any follow up questions he told me "I don't know anything about that" and told me to call the DHCR.He couldn't wait to get me off of the phone. I can't help but think it is because I have a free 30 minute consultation and he could tell there was no money to be made off of me. Don't participate in a program like this if you aren't willing to help people. Clearly you have no other way to get clients. Steer clear of this guy.

July 01 · Megan BrockThe only reason he gets 1 star is because he could not have received a lower rating. Whoever is thinking about hiring this person, please listen to me and do not hire him because you will regret it. You are much better at representing yourself as I learned this the hard way. He made my situation much worse due to him refusing to hear what I had to say when trying to explain to him the situation. It is clear he doesn't know how to manage a case, he can have all the evidence needed to win the case but doesn't know how to use them. Before hiring him with the evidence in our hands we were sure to win the case but he ended up refusing to use this evidence and threw away the case in court. This man does not deserve the title of a lawyer as I do not know how he in any way qualifies as one. He won't listen to you or use the evidence in his favor and throw away the case. Please once again I warn anyone reading this not to hire this man who will just rob you of your money.

September 04 · Aaron HerreraI have to agree in part with Jorge. The only reason I'm not giving this business a 1 star is that the paralegal working there that I spoke with seemed professional.Otherwise everything else left much to be desired. First of all there is a $250 consultation fee. Our consultation opened up with him coldly and imperatively requesting his fee. It seemed a little rude given the way he said it but hey, things cost what they cost and peoples time is money so I didn't think too much of it.Next he carelessly thumbed through my documents and claimed that I didn't bring what was requested when in fact all requested documentation was there, mind you with an index on the front page. When he finally found it, I then began to explain the legal issue I was having and was disrespectfully cut off several times before I could finish my sentence. He also didn't bother to look at the pictures of the damage I emailed (which my case centered around), leaving me to verbally explain the damage. As a former business owner, I can tell you that body language says a lot in business. Given his posture, tone, and facial expression they all screamed "IDGAF about you; I'm just here to collect my fee". This was further validated when he took a seemingly nonurgent call which lasted about 5 minutes in the middle of our meeting, WHICH ONCE AGAIN COST ME $250!The (1 hour) consultation ended 25 minutes early with him basically throwing his hands up and saying there wasn't much that could be done in my situation. And hey, the law is the law and signed contracts are legally binding so that may in fact be true. But how could anyone be sure after seeing their case reviewed so carelessly. The worst part is that later in the week I had another consultation with a different attorney (for a different issue) which didn't cost me anything and the lawyer was far more helpful and interested in my case. It was then that I fully realized the severity of this ripoff.Sergio, if you're going to charge people like this for consultations here are some pointers:1. Come to the meeting fully prepared with everything your potential clients send you beforehand (especially if it was requested of them).2. Work on your body landguage and tone. Even if you don't care about the people who are paying you at least pretend for their benefit.3. DO NOT take non-urgent calls during your expensive consultations.4. Don't cut potential clients off when they are talking.Once again this isn't about not getting the answer I wanted. But for that kind of money I should feel like the attorney at least tried their best during the hour (which was cut back to 35 minutes; 30 if you factor in the call he took) that I was charged for.

December 22 · Velia HernandezNot sure if this gentleman should even be called a lawyer. I quite literally ended up defending myself and negotiating a resolution to my own case. Extremely lazy work and does not keep records as required by law, did not even provide copies of case resolution. 1 star is actually being nice.
