However, it is important for any potential client to consider all available information, including direct feedback from past customers. The provided reviews for Watland & Allen are highly critical, with one client detailing a "worst experience" involving issues with communication, document delivery, and billing. The review alleges that the firm provided "boilerplate verbiage" instead of a customized document, and that they later attempted to charge more for omitted documents. This review, which is repeated in the provided information, raises serious concerns about the firm's client service and professional practices. It suggests that while the firm may offer a wide range of services, their execution and client communication may not meet expectations. This highlights the importance of thorough research and a direct, detailed conversation with the attorneys before retaining their services.
Given the mix of service offerings and critical public feedback, it is important to present the factual details about the firm's location and what they publicly offer, allowing you to weigh all factors in your decision-making process. When considering a legal firm for your estate planning or business law needs in Phoenix, it is crucial to weigh a firm's stated expertise against its client reputation. Watland & Allen offers a comprehensive suite of services focused on a specific and important area of law. Their specialization in estate planning, probate, and business organization is a significant benefit, as it suggests they have a deep knowledge of the intricacies of these fields in Arizona. Their convenient and physically accessible location, including covered parking, also adds a layer of convenience that is valuable for anyone needing to visit the office.
However, the highly critical reviews provided raise serious questions about client satisfaction and professional conduct. The reviews allege a lack of responsiveness, an unwillingness to correct mistakes, and a focus on "boilerplate" documents over personalized service. These are significant red flags that potential clients should not ignore. In a field like estate planning, where a lawyer's attention to detail and ability to communicate are paramount, the negative feedback about these very issues is concerning. It is essential for any potential client to take these criticisms into account and use them as a guide for what questions to ask during a preliminary consultation.
Given this, the decision of whether to choose Watland & Allen should be made with a high degree of caution. While their stated services and features appear to meet the needs of those seeking legal help with business and estate matters, the negative feedback about their professional practices is a powerful counterpoint. It is strongly recommended that you conduct your own independent research and, if you decide to proceed, use your initial consultation to ask specific and direct questions about their client communication protocols, their process for handling custom requests, and their policies on correcting errors. A firm that is committed to professional excellence and client satisfaction will be transparent and willing to address these concerns head-on.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Possibly THE worst experience we have had with ANY business! Our mistakes below. Pls be careful!1) We came to Mr. Watland for a Revocable Trust, from a co-worker’s “referral” 5 years prior, WITHOUT checking more references!2) After his first draft, it became obvious that Mr. Watland was only interested in selling us standard, boilerplate verbiage, ignoring our request/feedback to simplify the trust document! Since we had already paid partially, we let it go!3) We promptly paid the balance after signing documents! Then discovered 2 documents were omitted. That was when Mr. Watland pulled the disappearance act, not returning phone & email messages. Finally, at our persistence, he wanted to charge more for the 2 documents that would have taken his assistant 15 min. or less to produce & notarize! We refused. Where we come from, one owns up to one’s mistakes and makes it right!

April 10 · Sheila HansonOur family had a long history of exemplary care by Dwight Watland. He and his assistant went far beyond the expected as my Father was reaching end of life. It gave my Father and our family great comfort in his presence. We have had no issues with this group, not even once.

May 21 · Lita JohnsonThis attorney does not seem to have the skill to communicate. I called his office three weeks ago and he has not returned my call, so I have emailed him and I'm now waiting for a reply. I am not impressed in the least with Dwight O Watland. Save your money ! Go else where !UPDATE: Watland has not been communicating in a timely manner for the most part. The communication has not been better since using emails. He emailed me and said EMAILS for him are the best avenue to communicate rather than phone calls. Go Figure?! I am sure he is a very nice person otherwise.Save your money !
