What is personal injury law? Personal injury law is when an 'injured' person can go to civil court and get damages for all losses suffered. Usually, there was gross negligence or intention involved. What type of injuries are we talking about? Personal injury rules can apply to: Medical malpractice, Car accidents, Slip and fall accidents, Assault and battery cases, In product liability claims or someone’s reputation was slandered. I think I’ve got a personal injury claim. What should I do? Is there an insurance policy in the picture? This is important to know. You may very well be awarded damages, but it is of no use if the defendant doesn’t have any assets or any insurance coverage. How badly were you (or your loved one) hurt? In some cases, it might be better to let your own insurance kick in. On the other hand, if there were significant injuries and the other person was clearly at fault, you may want to proceed with an action, insurance or not.

What about probate? What is probate? Probate is a court-supervised process during which assets are first gathered and then distributed among heirs. The deceased's debts are paid, and the rest is divided among the heirs. Is the process easy? There are different types of probate, and the process also differs in different states. The will, of course, comes first. To go through the probate process, there must be a blueprint (the will) that tells the executor what to do. Secondly, the will must be admitted to probate. If there was no will, an administrator must be appointed to handle the affairs of your loved one. So, in short, the process is not that difficult, but there are quite a lot of different issues to keep in mind. The probate process is like a tree with many branches. Smaller side-branches spring from the main one.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Scott has been my lawyer on my custody case from the start and has done a phenomenal job. He has gotten me everything I wanted and more. Just today my ex took me back to court to reduce his child support obligation and I walked out getting more child support than I was.Overall, Scott and his office are very easy to reach and quick to give updates on things when needed. I have no complaints and if I could give more stars I would. He is definitely the guy you want in your corner!
August 13 · Ali WillanI heard about Scott through one of the Mount Washington Facebook groups. He was highly recommended and for good reason. Him and his team were able to get the job done and done right. I worked with some not so great attorneys in Louisville so it was nice working with someone who walked and the walk and talked the talk. Ideally I never need Scott again, but if I do I wouldn’t look elsewhere. As a father having to go through family court for years I have been beat up by the court system. Scott and team really fixed that problem for me, and even made it look easy.If you give Scott a try just review your fee agreement fully beforehand so there are no surprises. I did not and had some questions at the end but overall feel like my business was handled very fairly.I did work with Katelyn in this office quite a bit and she was the best paralegal I have worked with. This whole office is firing on all cylinders, and I appreciate what was done by these folks for my family.Side note if you have a family member that grew up in Bullitt County Scott will know who they are lol.
March 21 · Stephen GillonI recently worked with Wantland Law. Scott took time to explain every step and had great results. I would likely recommend him and his team! Exceptional and honest is what I needed and received.
July 30 · Stacey MerzweilerI could not have done this without Mr. Wantland! His exceptional communication skills ensured that I was always informed and understood every step of the legal process. His professionalism was evident in every interaction, providing confidence and clarity during a challenging time. Most importantly, his expertise and dedication led to outstanding results! I highly recommend Mr. Wantland to anyone in need of a knowledgeable and trustworthy attorney! Can I only give 5 stars? He deserves 500!!!
February 27 · Shannon LaymanI had an extremely bad experience with Mr Wantland. He was very rude during our consultation, as well as any anytime that I spoke with him. He tried to use scare tactics with my situation against my family. Now I will say that there were some problems that were a little difficult, but not. Crazy. I have never been in trouble never had a warrant never had anything like that. I am a grandmother and have worked with children on my life. And wanted to have some lights to just visit with my granddaughter whom was taken away from us My son and his wife were dealing with drug addiction. The few times I spoke with him and saw him. He told me that he was gonna get things together and then we would go to court and now this did fall into the time Covid was happening so crazy. But after Covid was settled down, I never heard from this attorney. I never had any court with him and. I have already paid him $2500 at this point. So I decided to call him and tell him that he never called me back. I needed to know what was going by this point, my son was at home and his wife had passed and I felt as if it were more important for him to get his rights back so I ask Mr.Wantland if it would be possible for my son to just go ahead and come see him, and maybe he could figure things out with him. When I voice my concerns about never going to court, never hearing from him and all that time and ask him if maybe he would just go ahead and take my son’s case instead because I’ve never gotten anything for the $2500 I had paid He then got defensive and told me that I never went to court because I kept canceling on him with different reasons. I then informed him that I had to cancel one time because of Covid and I was very ill and the other two times he canceled because he said people at work were sick and I don’t even remember the other reason now and he told me that they would get back in touch with me soon and they did not. I ended up calling them back again and that night I received a message from his office manager or secretary one that said they had set up court for the next day. I wasn’t available the next day. I had already made doctors appointments. I have disability and had to be seen so I thought that it would only be fair that he would just take on my son‘s case instead of my insisting upon him returning my $2500 well he informed me that he would not take my son’s case and that he believe that just him setting up court for that, the one time that I had to miss and the things that they looked up Were worth the money that I paid him and refused to send me any of it back. I am still just reeling from this. It has been now five years and never saw a penny of my money back never saw court. He was rude. The entire time he put down my family he put he was just it. It was a Completely Horrible experience. I am now trying to figure out how to get in touch with someone from the Bar Association or another attorney to sue him to retrieve at least a partial amount of the money that I paid him for nothing, and if I’m being truthful, I think that I deserve every penny back just because of his rudeness and his Lack of empathy or caring in our situation. As a matter of fact, I felt more judged and persecuted by this attorney, then I ever felt as if you were trying to help me.
