In my opinion, Recovery Law operates in a predatory way, and I strongly urge anyone considering their services to reconsider, immediately.I made the mistake of hiring Recovery Law during a financially vulnerable time, without doing enough research. In hindsight, it’s clear they strategically prey on desperation, which likely explains their aggressive ad spend: they aim to be the first name you see, hoping you’ll commit before realizing how little they actually offer. From the start, my experience was marred by condescension and indifference. During our initial call, I shared my net income (after taxes), unaware that gross income was the relevant figure. They didn’t request documentation at the time; just took the number and moved on (in contrast, my new lawyer, during my consultation, had me email him my paystubs). Five months later, after collecting my full retainer, they smugly informed me I “made too much” for Chapter 7. The tone was patronizing, as if I should’ve known the nuanced differences between net and gross from a rushed 10-minute consultation.After nearly a year of subpar support, I finally fired them. Their lack of effort to advocate for me was alarming. Their “help” consisted of telling me I’d need to repay 100% of my debt in Chapter 13 — at $1,000/month — and offering zero support when I asked how I was supposed to afford that. “Based on your gross income, you can,” they said, like that magically made $1,000 appear in my bank account. Useless.They also demanded exhaustive financial disclosures—CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, and more—far beyond the typical requirements, which felt invasive and excessive. My new firm did not request or require any of these disclosures, merely the obvious bank statements, paystubs, 401k balances, etc. Only after retaining a new attorney did I realize just how exploitative this firm truly is. My new lawyer was not only able to negotiate a Chapter 7, but told me plainly: Recovery’s $1,000/month plan was absurd. Realistically, a Chapter 13 would’ve cost me around $200/month, not $1,000, and certainly not 100% of the debt.So the question is: why would Recovery mislead a client this badly? The only plausible answer is that they stand to gain something from forcing people into unnecessarily burdensome repayment plans.And let’s not pretend we don’t see what’s happening in the reviews. Every time someone leaves honest feedback, Nick comes charging in, fighting for his life in the comments. The last time I saw someone try to reframe reality that hard, I was negotiating my divorce. A legitimate firm lets its work speak for itself. But when nearly every negative review is met with defensiveness and finger-pointing, it’s clear who the common denominator is.Nick, if you’re genuinely committed to helping people, why do you have so many negative reviews? After a while, you gotta take a step back, look at yourself in the mirror and realize that the common denominator here is you.I’ll be waiting for your usual condescending reply where you try to discredit everything I’ve said instead of taking accountability. Somebody should’ve seen this coming before a year went by. I would think twice before giving them money, once they get it, it’s gone for good. They are kind in the office that’s why they get 1 star in the ratings.

I like that the system for Recovery Law was clean and easy, so documents were easy to upload. The process went smoothly and quickly. Everyone was very helpful and Nick Wadja was very responsive when I had questions. Having a medical condition, it was great being able to do things over a Zoom call and online.

I am very unhappy with my service until now. I signed up for service in 2023 and submitted my first document 565 days ago. I am now just receiving help from an awesome attorney who just started with the firm. I have had to take the credit counseling course 3 times now. I feel like I should get some answers of why I’ve had to wait so long to get things done.

They initially promised that my bankruptcy case would be filed and completed within 6 to 8 months. However, over a year later, there was still no progress.When I confronted the head manager at Recovery Law Group to ask why my case was taking so long, I was abruptly told that they no longer represented me. I then requested a refund of the $1,850 I had paid, since no real work had been done on my behalf. The manager coldly responded that the only thing I would be getting was my filing.In my opinion, this firm takes advantage of clients by making empty promises, taking their money, and delivering little to no service in return. Based on my experience, I do not believe they should be allowed to continue practicing law.
