Thomas F. Burke, PC is an attorney and trial attorney with a practice focused on specific areas of law. The firm's legal services are tailored to complex litigation and arbitration matters. Based on the provided information, the firm's expertise includes:
- Employment Law: Providing legal counsel and representation in various employment-related disputes. This can include issues such as discrimination, wrongful termination, or contract disputes.
- Law Arbitration: Representing clients in arbitration proceedings, which are an alternative to traditional courtroom litigation. This requires a specific skill set in negotiation and presenting cases in a formal, out-of-court setting.
- Stockholder Litigation: Handling legal disputes involving corporate shareholders. This can include representing shareholders in lawsuits against a company's board of directors or management, or in disputes over company policies and decisions.
Given the specialized nature of these practice areas, the firm appears to focus on business and corporate-related legal disputes, rather than general practice. Prospective clients with legal issues in these fields would need to contact the firm directly to discuss the specifics of their case and to determine if the attorney has the relevant experience and is available to take on new clients. The firm’s classification as a "trial attorney" suggests a willingness and ability to represent clients in a formal courtroom setting if a settlement cannot be reached through arbitration or other means.
The features and highlights of Thomas F. Burke, PC, are best understood by examining the publicly available information, which includes contradictory client reviews. It is important to consider both perspectives to form a complete picture:
- Positive Review Highlights: A review from a 70-year-old widow highlights Thomas F. Burke's perceived qualities as an "experienced, knowledgeable, hard-working attorney, but a man of character, compassion, and honor." The client credits him with recovering a significant amount of money in a case where other attorneys were pessimistic. The client appreciated his honesty and that he was able to expedite proceedings and get fees reduced. The client "would highly recommend Tom Burke to represent anyone in need of an outstanding attorney."
- Negative Review Highlights: A former client provides a starkly different account. The review alleges that the attorney "sabotaged a case for financial gain" by resigning close to trial to "work for a law firm representing the other side," a firm run by his brother. The review accuses him of violating legal ethics and sharing confidential information. It also questions his "mental acuity," claiming he gets "confused easily, misses deadlines, forgets aspects of a case and asks the wrong questions at depositions." The review advises, "do not hire Tom" and states that he is no longer "reliable."
The contradiction between these reviews is a key highlight. One client praises the attorney's character, compassion, and successful outcome, while another accuses him of dishonesty, a lack of loyalty, and professional incompetence. This divergence of opinion suggests that prospective clients should exercise extreme caution and conduct extensive due diligence before making a hiring decision.
For those in need of legal services, here is the contact information for Thomas F. Burke, PC:
Address: 104 N Garfield St, Hinsdale, IL 60521, USA
Phone: (312) 362-1300
Mobile Phone: +1 312-362-1300
Given the highly conflicting reviews, it is strongly recommended that any prospective client use these contact details to schedule an initial consultation and ask very specific, pointed questions about the attorney's history, professional conduct, and ability to handle their particular case. It would also be prudent to seek a second or third opinion from other legal professionals.
The decision of which attorney to hire is one of the most critical you will make, and it should be based on a thorough understanding of their professional capabilities and ethical standing. What is worth choosing is a lawyer whose reputation is built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and consistent competence. Based on the provided public data, there is a significant conflict of information that a potential client must carefully consider. On one hand, a client praises the attorney for his knowledge, hard work, and successful outcome in a challenging case, highlighting a positive and compassionate experience. This type of endorsement, especially for a case involving the recovery of life’s savings, is powerful and compelling.
On the other hand, the negative reviews raise very serious and specific allegations of unethical behavior, including a conflict of interest, a betrayal of client trust, and a lack of professional competence. These are not minor complaints; they directly challenge the attorney's ability to act in a client's best interest. The claim that the attorney resigned from a case to work for the opposing firm is a severe professional allegation that could be a violation of legal ethics. The claims about mental acuity and missed deadlines also point to potential issues with professional diligence. When such a significant and stark contradiction exists in public feedback, it becomes an important part of the evaluation process.
Therefore, while one review presents a compelling case for choosing Thomas F. Burke, PC, the other presents an equally compelling argument against it. What is worth choosing, in this instance, is a path of extreme caution and thorough investigation. For any resident of Illinois considering this firm, it would be wise to not only use the provided contact information to ask probing questions but also to seek out independent verification of the claims made in the negative review, such as checking public records from a professional disciplinary board. A client's confidence in their attorney's integrity is non-negotiable, and when that integrity is called into question, it is always a better choice to proceed with an abundance of caution.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It's with great appreciation that I write this review regarding attorney Thomas F. Burke. I was scammed out of my life's savings in 2022 and was told by many attorneys that I would never recover a penny. And then I was referred to Tom. Not only is he an experienced, knowledgeable, hard-working attorney, but a man of character, compassion, and honor. As a 70-year-old widow, Tom know how stressful this grueling experience was going to be for me. He was able to expedite the proceedings and get several fees greatly reduced or waived along the way. I appreciated the fact that Tom was always honest with me and constantly let me know what to expect. In the end, I did recover enough of my money back to resume my life somewhat worry-free. The amount of my settlement was a surprise to many of the experts involved in my case since their experience with similar cases led them to believe I would get much less, if anything at all. I contribute my settlement success to the endless hours and energy that Tom put into my case. I would highly recommend Tom Burke to represent anyone in need of an outstanding attorney.
September 03 · Joanne MacphersonUpdate to address Tom's dishonest response: We asked Tom to represent us because we thought we could trust him since we had known him for over a decade. He is lying about working for free. The contract he offered us (and written by him) paid him a hefty contingency based on his success, as is very common in the practice of this type of law. He also mischaracterizes why he withdrew from our case. The truth is that he went to work for a firm that represents the defense in our lawsuit and is run by his brother. This firm knew Tom for many years but only wanted to hire him after he worked on a case against their insurance client. Tom actually shared confidential information about our case before he went to work for his new firm and acted in accordance with their direction. Tom violated legal ethics in multiple ways. We aren't bitter about Tom getting a job with a firm run by his brother. We are angry that he screwed us over!Original review: Please do yourself a favor and do not hire Tom. Many years ago, Tom was a reliable attorney, not great, but reliable; but today I would not trust him with even the simplest legal matter. It's not just that he does not advocate for his client, he actually resigned from a case close to trial and went to work for a law firm representing the other side! Yes, he in effect sabotaged a case for financial gain. Just sick! He has no loyalty and will sell out if there's money in it for him. His age and mental acuity seem off too. He's allowed opposing counsel to push him and his client around. He's timid, but it's more. He gets confused easily, misses deadlines, forgets aspects of a case and asks the wrong questions at depositions, where opposing counsel has to correct him. He does the least amount of work he can get away with, even directing a client to write and edit documents for him. He's a hot mess in my opinion.
