Rocket Lawyer Introduce
In today's fast-paced world, gaining access to reliable legal assistance can be a significant hurdle for many people and small businesses across Utah. The traditional legal model, with its high costs and complex processes, often presents a barrier. This is where online legal services like Rocket Lawyer come into play, offering an alternative that promises simplicity, affordability, and accessibility. While it may have a physical office address in Ogden, it is important for Utah residents to understand that Rocket Lawyer operates primarily as an online platform. This article is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of what Rocket Lawyer offers, how its model works, its accessibility features, and what to consider based on public information and user reviews.
Rocket Lawyer is an online legal technology company that has established a presence in Utah. Its mission is to make the law simple and affordable for everyone. Instead of a traditional law firm model where clients pay an attorney by the hour, Rocket Lawyer operates on a subscription-based model. They provide a vast library of legal documents and forms, and also offer access to a network of licensed attorneys for consultations. This approach aims to empower individuals and small businesses to handle common legal tasks on their own, with professional support available when needed. Rocket Lawyer's services cover a wide range of legal issues, from drafting a last will and testament to setting up a new business.
However, it's crucial for prospective users to be aware of the nature of this subscription model. While the platform often promotes a free trial, multiple public reviews highlight a key issue: the automatic subscription that follows the trial period. Reviewers have expressed significant frustration, claiming they were charged monthly fees without a clear alert after the trial ended. One user mentioned being charged for six months after canceling the free trial, and another described the charges as being in "tiny 'terms and conditions'" without subsequent email or text alerts. These experiences suggest that while the services may be valuable, users must be vigilant in managing their subscriptions and understanding the terms to avoid unexpected billing.
While Rocket Lawyer is an online service, it does have a physical address listed in Ogden, Utah, at 372 24th St, Ogden, UT 84401, USA. This physical location may be part of their corporate operations, but the majority of their services are conducted online. The company is part of a Utah Supreme Court pilot program for non-lawyer ownership of legal services, which allows it to operate and provide its services within the state. This highlights its formal, regulated presence in Utah's legal landscape.
Despite its online nature, the company's commitment to accessibility is evident in the features associated with its physical location.
- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance: The building is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible entrance.
- Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot: There is a parking lot with accessible spaces.
- Wheelchair Accessible Restroom: A restroom is available that is accessible to individuals using wheelchairs.
These features ensure that if a physical visit were ever necessary, the location would be accommodating.
Rocket Lawyer offers a broad array of legal services, primarily delivered through its online platform. These services are designed to meet both personal and business legal needs.
- Business Legal Services: They assist with forming business entities like LLCs, drafting business contracts, managing commercial leases, and providing corporate finance support. They also offer registered agent services and can help with small business lawsuits.
- Estate Planning: The platform allows users to create essential documents such as a last will and testament, wills and trusts, and other legal documents necessary for estate planning.
- Real Estate Law: They provide legal documentation and support for real estate matters, including a quitclaim deed, which is a common instrument in Utah for transferring property without a guarantee of title.
- Legal Advice and Consultations: Through their "Ask a Lawyer" feature, members can get attorney advice and consultations on a wide range of legal topics, from criminal defense litigation to tax advice and audits.
- Personal Documents: The platform can also assist with personal legal needs, such as a prenuptial agreement or other legal documentation.
This extensive list demonstrates the company's effort to be a one-stop shop for a variety of legal needs.
Rocket Lawyer's key features and highlights are directly related to its online business model and its commitment to making legal services more accessible.
- Online Appointments and Services: All services, from document creation to attorney consultations, are available online. This provides a high degree of convenience, as users can access legal help from anywhere at any time without needing to visit a physical office.
- Extensive Document Library: The platform offers a vast selection of legal document templates that users can customize and e-sign.
- Access to Attorneys: The ability to consult with a licensed attorney for a free initial consultation is a significant highlight, providing a level of professional advice that distinguishes it from simple document-template services.
- Accessibility: The physical location in Ogden has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and restroom.
- Cost-Effective Model: For many common legal tasks, a subscription model can be more affordable than paying an attorney's hourly rate, particularly for small businesses that have ongoing legal needs.
For those in Utah who are interested in using Rocket Lawyer's services, the following contact information is available. They can be reached by phone at (877) 881-0947. Their physical address is 372 24th St, Ogden, UT 84401, USA. Given that the service is primarily online, the phone number is the primary method of contact for customer support and inquiries.
Choosing a legal service is a critical decision, and whether Rocket Lawyer is the right choice depends on your specific needs and priorities. It is worth choosing for individuals and small businesses that require a large volume of standard legal documents or frequent consultations on a variety of matters. The subscription model provides a predictable cost for ongoing legal support, which can be a significant benefit. The ability to access legal advice and documents from the comfort of your home is another clear advantage. However, it is essential to be cautious due to the multiple public complaints about billing and subscription management. The lack of transparency and the difficulty in obtaining a full refund after a canceled trial are serious concerns that prospective users must consider. For complex legal issues or litigation, a dedicated, local Utah attorney might be a more suitable choice. The company's business model is best suited for those who are proactive about managing their subscriptions and primarily need assistance with common legal tasks, documents, and general advice. For those who prioritize convenience and a broad range of services at a potentially lower cost, Rocket Lawyer offers a compelling, albeit a cautionary, option.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1*** Caution *** Tried the free trial, they couldn't do exactly what we needed which is fine, so we simply canceled the trial 6 months ago. However, they continued to charge us $59.97 for the next 6 months. We called 4-5 times to ask for them to please cancel and refund. Customer Service admittedly said that they see where we have called and cancelled several times !!! However, they say that they can issue one refund due to their policy. Despite the fact that we tried to cancel 6 months ago and several since. We cancelled again today, so we will see again if they actually do it. Till then I guess we are just out $359.82... (To Be Continued)
April 04 · Joshua ComleyAbsolute worst. They get you to enroll in free trial and then never alert you of their $40 a month AFTER you signup. It is in tiny "*terms and conditions* when you sign up. You then are never alerted each month as they take $40 as a charge on your credit card. In addition, they never email you or send text each month they take this. Finally they only partially refund you when you find out and demand a refund!
March 12 · Andre RamyWe are disappointed with Rocket Lawyer’s lack of responsiveness. After multiple calls, voicemails, and emails to their Trademark Department, I have yet to receive a response. We have an urgent Statement of Use (SOU) filing with the USPTO, and despite Rocket Lawyer handling our initial trademark application, their support has been completely unresponsive. If you need reliable legal assistance, I would strongly reconsider using their services.
February 03 · Artur GronusEDIT: I need to commend this company for what they did. I called and made my complaint, I accepted fault, canceled, wrote my review, and left it at that. Whoever is running that place saw my review and complaint and took it upon themselves to send somewhere around half my money back. I didn't ask for it. I told them it's on me, and they still chose to send money back. That's MORALITY. So, to whomever made the decision, thank you!**********************My original complaint:They got me for 300 bucks like immoral companies do with the free trial crap and lack of communication. Typical lying ass lawyers!
January 20 · Jonathan WaggonerI hired Rocket Lawyer nearly a year ago for trademark-related services. The initial onboarding process went well, but the experience after that was not as positive. It has been extremely difficult to get in touch with the trademark department once the onboarding stage was completed. The company's trademark team is comprised of only two staff members.
