David Read has brought us through some of the most difficult times in our lives! He is a professional stronghold in court, and a complete powerhouse negotiator! His firm presence is felt, seen, and respected- he is someone you want by your side in your defense. It is clear that he is a man of integrity and character, and ready to stand for your rights. ✊He is also very down to earth with us. That approach has been incredibly valuable to our peace of mind; he explains legalese in a way we can digest it, he prepare us for court hearings with understanding and comfort, and he debriefs us with a professional and calm demeanor after hearings (no matter what we are feeling!). He's been ~incredibly~ patient with our 🫠various 🥴 ranges 🤪 of 😡 emotions 😂, especially (but not limited to😜) after 🤪 a 😅 difficult 😭 hearing--- and he makes certain that we understand what has happened and what our next steps will be.I have especially enjoyed our in-person/Zoom meetings-- absolutely every time we were able to meet he was compassionate, validating, and informative. His many years of experience with strong understanding of laws and processes have given us a solid sense of foundation, one that we know we can trust, and one that has given us peace of mind. His reminders that "it'll get easier as you go" and "you'll learn how thing work and gain confidence" were not only calming, but prophetic -- because that's exactly what happened. His digital appointment system is an excellent resource!I highly recommend David Read for your legal needs. Family court can certainly be incredibly challenging and emotional, but with someone like David as representation you will be able to rest assured.

While a divorce is exceptionally painful, confusing and can cause crisis of self-identity in its scope and trauma, it was great working with David. He was always being efficient with my time and budget and always had an eye on what is important in the conduct of the divorce. Unfortunately, my ex-spouse and I went all the way to trial, but he has always calm, had my best interests in mind and a shark-eye for conduct and respect. Thank you, David!

I have appreciated David's knowledge and skills. He is very validating of our circumstances, and just when you think you might understand what will happen in a given situation you get hit by a complete surprise or unexpected outcome, and then David steps in and knows how to handle it. It is a great relief to have his experience, especially in these situations, when the emotions you can carry can be so strong and difficult, you really need someone with the know-how to give you a steady perspective and plan.Thank you, David (and team)!

I retained David Read for two legal matters -- one involving going after a negligent and recalcitrant school director (who refused to enact a bullying policy after my daughter had been repeatedly bullied by a troublesome student) with a civil suit, and another involving changing my daughter's last name through the courts.In both cases, David got the work done promptly and professionally. The school apparently didn't like the idea of paying dearly for failure to act, and the letter David drafted and sent to the school was sufficient to ensure the bullying matter was finally handled.My daughter's name change was also filed and approved by the local judge in a matter of days thanks to David's and his paralegal's quick work, which made changing my daughter's name a simple thing.I received good communication from the firm while they handled both matters. All my texts, calls, and emails were responded to within hours, if not minutes. I've dealt with plenty of litigation and found communication is something many other attorneys fail to afford. It's something I consider a big "green flag" for what constitutes a good practitioner of law.

One star is too many! Worst attorney ever. Because of his laziness and ignorance I lost everything. Everything. My house, my child, my retirement, camping gear, kid's artwork projects, literally everything I had. The only thing I got to keep was 5 tee shirts and two pairs of pants.I hired Mr. Read to file one paper, a Motion to set aside Default Judgement. He wouldn't do it. It wasn't that there was a lack of communication, there was zero communication with Mr. Read. Then I found out he was fired from Farr, Cragen and Berube, the law frim where I paid my retainer. A short time later Mr. Read took himself off my case, as well as his previous employer. Because they both took themselves off my case, the Utah State Bar Association could not help me when I filed a complaint against Mr. Read.Do not see this man. Do not give him your business. He is lazy, incompetent, pathetic, hopeless and completely unreliable.
