When you are in the midst of a difficult legal situation like a divorce, choosing the right attorney can be the most important decision you make. The public reviews for R. Robert Clothier, P.C. offer a mixed but insightful picture of the firm's strengths and weaknesses. It is important for a local user in Colorado Springs to consider both the positive and negative feedback to form a balanced perspective.
One client's review paints a very positive and compelling picture. The client, who had a "very difficult divorce," praises "Bob" and his colleague "Michelle" for their frankness, honesty, and guidance. The client notes that the team helped them "take the emotion out of the process and treat it as a business transaction." This direct, business-like approach can be incredibly effective in legal matters, especially when there are significant assets like a house and a business at stake. The most powerful endorsement in this review is the outcome: the client was able to "keep my house and my business and begin my new life." This tangible success, combined with the personal support—"helped my hand through the process"—is a strong indicator of the firm’s ability to achieve results while providing a supportive client experience. The client's final recommendation, stating that the process would have been "10 times harder" without them, is a powerful testament to the value they provided.
However, another review offers a starkly different experience. This client strongly advises against hiring the firm, citing "horrificaly incompetent" service. The most serious claims include a "$100k mathematical error" that the client caught at mediation, and inaccuracies in billing. The review also mentions disorganization, with the attorney allegedly forgetting who filed for divorce. This feedback points to serious concerns about attention to detail, administrative competence, and billing transparency. While one positive review highlights a successful outcome, this negative review raises red flags about the firm's internal processes and accuracy, which are critical in any legal or financial matter. For a potential client, this means it is essential to be proactive. If you are considering this firm, you might want to ask specific questions about how they track billing and manage case files, and confirm key details about your case at every step. While the positive review suggests that the firm can deliver excellent results, the negative one indicates that a client might need to be vigilant to ensure there are no administrative errors.
Overall, what is worth choosing is a firm that can deliver both professional competence and personal support. The reviews suggest that R. Robert Clothier, P.C. has the potential to do so, but also that clients must be prepared to actively engage with the firm's processes. The honesty and ability to focus on the business aspects of a divorce are clearly strong points, but the reported issues with accuracy and organization mean that a prospective client should proceed with caution and a clear understanding of what they need from their legal team.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a very difficult divorce. I hired another attorney first and her firm screwed up a protection order hearing so bad I knew I needed help. Bob came very highly recommended and now I see why. I met with him and was impressed by how frank and honest he was. My situation meant there was a good chance I would have to sell my house and business to be able to come to a settlement agreement. Bob helped me take the emotion out of the process and treat it as a business transaction, which is really what divorce is, and make logical and fair arguments to begin making progress. He and Michelle help my hand through the process and made sure to explore all the options. We came to a fair custody agreement for my kids and ex. In the end, I was able to keep my house and my business and begin my new life. I recommend Bob and Michelle to anyone who has to go through this, it will be 10 times harder without them. Thank you so much to the Robert Clothier law firm!
December 26 · robert soucekDO NOT HIRE THIS MAN !!! I do not even know where to begin. If you are entertaining retaining Mr. Clothier and his team please please pay atention to the following! They are very personable so I thought I was in good hands however Mr. Clothier and his team are just horrificaly incompetent.- They made a 100k dollar mathmatical error that I caught at mediation on the value of my house.-The billing is not tracked accuratley at all so realy document everything. They will ask for documents several times and then bill you every time.- The unorganization is awful, Mr. Clothier literaly forgot I was the one who Filed for divorce.
February 13 · James KingI whole heartedly disagree with the review below. . Mr. Clothier was nothing but professional both in and out of the courtroom. He worked with me diligently to get me through a rather messy custody hearing. I can't say I'm surprised with Ms. Peters assessment since she is my ex-husband's new wife.
September 02 · Amy AlfordI would not recommend Robert Clothier as an attorney. He was dishonest, unprofessional, and not well-spoken during the hearing. He repeatedly started a sentence, stopped, tried to rephrase and then would finally finish his thought, coming across as very unpolished. He also could not keep a straight face during some of his questioning. He has the typical stereotype personality of an arrogant attorney.
August 28 · Laura AlfordMr. Clothier and his extremely helpful paralegal did an outstanding job representing me during my divorce and child custody case. Very professional.
