Broad Practice Areas: The firm offers a wide spectrum of services, from business formation to residential real estate and estate planning. This versatility makes them a one-stop-shop for many individuals and businesses in the New Jersey area.
Emphasis on Thoroughness: A key aspect of the firm’s approach is a high degree of diligence. For this client, the "peace of mind it provides is well worth the wait."
Client Experience: While some clients, particularly those in the real estate industry, appreciate the firm’s meticulous approach to detail, others have expressed frustration with the pace of transactions. A separate review from a buyer in a real estate transaction described the process as being "dragged out" and found the firm's communication to be lacking, citing a lack of updates on the closing date and issues with a deposit check. ### What is Worth Choosing
Choosing a law firm is not a one-size-fits-all decision, and what makes a firm the right choice for one person may not be the same for another. Poff & Weber is a practice that presents a clear value proposition, particularly for clients who align with its specific work style.
For those who prioritize meticulous attention to detail and long-term security, Poff & Weber is an excellent choice. As a local realtor noted in a review, the attorney's thoroughness, while it can extend the timeline of a transaction, is aimed at ensuring a "truly final" outcome free of "future surprises." In the fast-paced and competitive New Jersey real estate market, this focus on diligence can be invaluable for clients who want to mitigate risk and secure their investment. A client who values this kind of protective, careful legal work will likely find the firm's approach to be a source of significant peace of mind.
The firm’s extensive range of services is also a major benefit. By handling everything from business disputes to estate planning and residential real estate, Poff & Weber can serve as a comprehensive legal partner for individuals and businesses alike. This allows for a deeper and more consistent relationship with the attorney, who can gain a holistic understanding of a client's legal needs over time. This breadth of expertise is particularly useful for those who may have multiple legal needs and want to avoid the hassle of finding a new specialist for each issue.
However, it is important for prospective clients to consider their own priorities. Public feedback indicates that the firm's meticulous approach can sometimes be perceived as slow, and communication on administrative matters may not always meet the expectations of every client. For a client whose primary concern is a swift, no-frills transaction, this firm’s style may not be the ideal fit. This is a crucial distinction to make, and it highlights why it is so important to have a clear conversation about expectations before retaining an attorney.
In conclusion, Poff & Weber is a law firm that offers a high level of expertise, particularly in the areas of business and real estate law. They are well-suited for clients who are looking for a thorough and detail-oriented attorney who prioritizes the security and finality of a transaction over speed. Their accessible location and broad service offerings make them a notable presence in the Hawthorne community for those whose legal needs align with their professional style.

Poff & Weber Reviews
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Clinton Poff and his team on several transactions over the past two years. While his thoroughness can sometimes extend the timeline, I’ve come to see that it’s always in the best interest of all parties, especially his clients. In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving real estate market, Mr. Poff’s priority is ensuring that once a deal closes, it’s truly final, free of title issues, loose ends, or future surprises.Though this level of diligence can feel slow to those expecting quick closings, the peace of mind it provides is well worth the wait. As a realtor who’s worked with many attorneys, I value the care and attention he brings to each file, not just for the buyers and sellers, but for the integrity of my own business. Referring an attorney who protects your clients' best interests is crucial, and Clinton consistently delivers.I highly recommend his services to anyone seeking experienced estate/elder law guidance or real estate representation. Thank you, Clinton, for always treating our clients with such exceptional care!
July 22 · Odalis NievesWe had to deal with Poff on a real estate transaction. We were the buyers and he was the sellers' attorney. Every single person who had to interact with him throughout our transaction told us essentially the same thing, "Poff should not be an attorney" (our attorney, our realtor, the sellers' realtor, etc.). He dragged out everything. The sellers' realtor frequently apologized for his behavior. Attorney review took THREE WEEKS only for them to accept what was essentially the first draft. He asked for unreasonable things like changing EPA standards for radon testing. He asked to personally see proof of funds in an amount he determined (which was not money enough to close) even though we had pre-approval that showed we did have the funds. He might as well have asked to see that we had five dollars. Additionally, he held onto our deposit check for almost two weeks without depositing because it was not written to the correct account holder. He did not notify us until our paralegal asked his office about it. He did, instead, send a nasty letter accusing us of not sending the deposit check in time per our contract (because he had not deposited the check). Lastly, he refused to inform us of our closing date. When the closing date indicated in the contract had passed - not even a courtesy email to update us and let us know we were not closing on the date. In fact, no notice of when closing date might be, ever. Incompetence at its greatest. Proof that if you are a below-mediocre white man, you can thrive in the age of Trump.
