Padden & Mc Collister PLLC Introduce
Choosing an attorney is a critical decision that requires careful research and consideration, as the outcome of your legal matter can significantly impact your life. For residents of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, and the surrounding communities, the name Padden & Mc Collister PLLC may come up in your search for legal representation. It is essential for local users to be fully informed about a law firm's standing and reputation before entering into a professional relationship. The information provided here is based on public records and is intended to help you make a well-informed decision about your legal counsel.
Public records from the Minnesota Supreme Court and various news outlets indicate that Michael B. Padden, one of the named partners of Padden & Mc Collister PLLC, was disbarred from the practice of law in Minnesota. This action was taken after an investigation by the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility found a pattern of serious misconduct. The allegations and subsequent findings included, but were not limited to, misappropriation of client funds, forging a client’s signature on a fee contract, and lying to a client and a court. As a result, he is no longer authorized to practice law in the state of Minnesota.
One of the cases detailed in the public records is particularly relevant to the provided client review. The Minnesota Supreme Court’s disciplinary action stems from a finding that Padden urged a client in a criminal case in Wisconsin to skip a sentencing hearing, and then, after the client followed his advice and was consequently arrested, Padden allegedly lied to the court by claiming he was surprised by his client’s absence. This incident resulted in a much harsher sentence for the client than what was initially recommended. This public record aligns with the negative review provided, in which a client recounts a similar event, stating that Padden told them not to show up for court, leading to the husband’s arrest and a three-year prison sentence, while Padden told the court he was "shocked" by the no-show. This information is provided to help local users understand the serious nature of the misconduct allegations that led to the disbarment.
Given the disbarment of Michael B. Padden, it is crucial for anyone seeking legal services to verify the current status of the attorneys they are considering. The Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board maintains a public database where you can check the disciplinary history and practice status of any attorney licensed in the state. This is an essential step to ensure that the lawyer you hire is in good standing and is authorized to practice law. The public records are clear that Michael B. Padden is not currently in good standing and is no longer authorized to practice in Minnesota.
Based on the provided information, the firm's address is listed as 8647 Eagle Point Blvd, Lake Elmo, MN 55042, USA. The firm's physical location is noted to have a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and restroom. However, it is imperative for potential clients to be aware of the firm's current legal standing. Appointments are recommended, but given the public disciplinary actions against one of the named partners, it is vital to proceed with extreme caution and seek alternative counsel.
The provided information lists the types as "Attorney" and no specific services are detailed. Public records indicate that Michael B. Padden's past practice involved areas such as criminal defense, personal injury, and litigation. However, due to his disbarment, he is no longer able to provide these services in Minnesota.
No features or highlights can be listed beyond the provided accessibility information. Public data overwhelmingly points to a disbarment for serious professional misconduct, including client fraud, forgery, and neglect of cases. This renders any promotional highlighting inappropriate and misleading to the public. The focus should remain on providing factual, public information to protect local users. The negative review aligns with public reports of his professional misconduct.

Given the serious and public nature of the disbarment of Michael B. Padden, choosing this firm is not recommended. The information provided from public records and a client review paints a clear picture of professional misconduct, including allegations of lying to clients, misappropriating funds, and urging a client to take actions that resulted in a harsher sentence. The Minnesota Supreme Court's decision to disbar an attorney is a severe measure reserved for the most serious ethical violations. It is a decision made to protect the public from an individual who has been found to be unfit to practice law.
The provided information, combined with publicly available court and news records, makes it clear that seeking legal representation from this firm would be a significant risk. For anyone in Minnesota facing a legal issue, it is paramount to hire an attorney who is in good standing with the state bar and who has a demonstrated history of ethical and professional conduct. The best course of action is to seek legal counsel from a firm with a clean disciplinary record and strong, verifiable client reviews that reflect a pattern of integrity and competence. Your legal matter is too important to entrust to a firm that has been publicly sanctioned for professional misconduct.

Padden & Mc Collister PLLC Reviews
My husband was facing multiple felonies out of Green Bay. Posted situation on Lawyers.com and Mike Padden responded. Hired him because he said he would work with us over payment. Paid him $5,000 over the course of 7 months. The day of sentencing, Mike calls us in our hotel to tell us not to show up to court or my husband will be arrested on the spot. He said the PSI is full of lies and they are looking to put him away for decades. He said we should just leave the state and never go back. They will never extradite and it will be fine. We did not know the law so we trusted him and left. Needless to say, that was a lie and now my husband is in prison for 3 years and Mike told the court he was shocked with my husband did not show up to court. This is a devil in disguise. He will manipulate you, take advantage of you, steal all your money, and then lie to you because he can. If you value your freedom and your loved ones, stay as far away from this man as possible.
