When evaluating a service like this, it is crucial to consider the experiences of past clients. While some individuals may find success with the firm, others have voiced concerns. Public reviews, for example, have sometimes highlighted issues related to communication, case management, and billing practices. One common theme in some negative reviews is the feeling of being "strung along" or a lack of proactive communication, which can be particularly stressful when dealing with time-sensitive tax matters. Other criticisms have included concerns about the final cost of services versus the results achieved.
On the other hand, many companies, including those in the tax relief industry, have systems in place to address customer complaints. It is not uncommon for firms to offer resolutions, refunds, or other forms of compensation to dissatisfied clients. While some reviews might be critical, it is important to understand that customer satisfaction can vary widely. The decision to choose Optima Tax Relief, or any other firm, should be based on your own research, a personal consultation, and a clear understanding of the terms of service. It's always a good practice to ask about the firm's process for handling cases, their communication protocols, and their refund or satisfaction policies before committing to their services.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Run from this company as fast as you can. Any positive remarks you see I can assure you are not true. They claim they can negotiate your debt and create a payment plan for you that’s comfortable. Not true at all. They charged me $20,000 saying I owed 300,000 in taxes. Come to find out I never owed anywhere near that then they never did any work for literally four years they just strung me along. After trusting them no longer I tried to cancel, out of the $20,000 that I gave them they offered me a max refund settlement of $4000. This company is very well known for ripping people off. Run from this company as fast as possible.
August 26 · Bill Parmeter***Edited****I just got off the phone with a representative stating that unless I edit my initial review that is still below that my case will be put on hold and they will not move forward with it. She let me know that it either needs to be edited, removed, or that I reach out to google and let them know that it’s been addressed. I will be taking all prior recorded conversations with them, and reaching out to the Better Business Bureau. But for Google sake, yes my concern was handled and it was handled with a threat of my case being put on hold.***Edit***(I mean the following more than ever) 8/21/25It seems like the amount of times I’ve had to babysit Optima to make sure my own information is correct, The price I paid should’ve been way less.I just got off the phone with them for the want to say sixth time today and they have managed to mess up my name on my tax returns multiple times. If you miss a call from them and called them back right away and then explain the issue, they will let you know that they’ll call you back within 24 to 48 hours. There’s no way that I’m only one experiencing this, and therefore .2 review in my opinion must’ve been bought.I wish I would’ve read a review warning me not to do business with them, and just go ahead and do business with an entirely different company. Very very dissatisfied and after all of this is finished up and my tax issues, hopefully resolved.(I have very little confidence with this company). I will never do business with them again, and everyone that I ever meet but wants me to recommend a company. I will do everything in my power to make sure they do not do business with optima.I really hope the owner or some type of manager sees this review. Have a customer request to speak to a manager. They should be able to speak to a manager or have a manager called him back not some regular entry-level person and seemingly has no idea what they’re doing..
August 21 · Chad Bramblett8/25/25 update- if I could I would remove ALL stars.I’ll be honest—I feel completely misled. From the very beginning I told them we already had an agreement with the IRS to pay $150 a month, and that $150—maybe $200 at the very most—was all we could afford. I was upfront about that. On top of it, my daughter spent 35 days in the NICU from May-June 2025, and those bills alone are now over $810,000 (not even counting my own medical bills). I was reassured this was something they could work with, and that gave me hope. But now I find out we’d have to pay over $4,200 just to “resolve” things, and then still set up payments after that to pay the debt? That feels like a slap in the face. I don’t have $4,200 to just hand over—not to mention monthly payments after the fact—when none of it even goes toward actually reducing my debt.If someone had just been honest with me from the start—“Pay X and your debt is completely taken care of”—then maybe my husband and I could have scrambled and found a way, even if it meant draining retirement. But to throw over $4,000 at this and still not put a dent in what we owe? That’s beyond discouraging.I can’t tell you how disappointed I am. I was honest and straightforward about our situation, and I was assured they could work with us. Instead, I feel like I wasted time I didn’t have and hope I couldn’t afford to lose.So at this point, I’ll deal with the IRS myself directly through certified mail. If I’m going to somehow come up with $4,200, at least it’ll go toward the actual debt I owe, not just a “resolution fee.” And yes, I told them I would be updating my review, because while I started this process hopeful and grateful, I’m walking away completely let down. And now I’m giving this a five star review for the help Sean and Franklin have done to help get the investigation process started. However I will return to update my status once I know what is going on after the investigation and what they will be able to do for my husband and I. We currently owe together $13k for the last 6 years combined. Hoping and praying we can resolve this for either cheaper or quicker than through the IRS who is nearly impossible to speak with and when you finally do, they set up payments and contracts that they don’t follow through with. I’ll return once things get going to update or reflect what has happened through the process and/or change my stars to reflect my pleasure or not with optima. So far- I am pleased but this is just the beginning.
August 25 · Rosanna NortonIt has been a long process but good news along the way. Hector Luna was helpful in getting a positive result with the IRS and gave me great customer service several times during the process. It is not over but I am sure that Hector will help me get positive results going forward.
August 21 · Sue RolfeI've been hearing about Optimum Tax Relief on the radio, so I decided to reach out to them because I owe money to the IRS and thought they could help resolve the issue or reduce my debt. On November 29, 2024, I called them and paid a few hundred dollars for an investigation. They later contacted me, saying I needed to pay an additional $5,000 to proceed. I made that payment, but now, months later, almost a year has passed, and my issue is still unresolved. It feels like a scam; they lure people in for their money and keep saying I have to wait. It's unfair that I paid them and still owe the IRS. I wouldn’t recommend their services to anyone. They don’t seem truthful and are more interested in taking your money than genuinely helping.
