My husband was the victim of a vicious assault. State Attorney Shane Nolan was on top of my husband’s case and kept us informed throughout the process. Ms.Stephanie in the attorneys office followed up and reached out during this ordeal and at no point did I feel we weren’t a priority for them. While they take on an enormous amount of cases and I did have to follow up on some things, which we should also advocate and stay up to date on things and not let them take it all on , they did an incredible job and justice was served for my husband. I see some reviews that people didn’t get a phone call or an email. We never received anything in writing but again we the victims must advocate and do the work too, case search is free, the dockets are posted the day before and court dates can be found online, we can not expect the States Attorney’s office to be our personal assistant. Also for other victims please know you’re not alone the MD Crime Victims Resource Center was a great help as well in our case. The Anne Arundel County States Attorney’s Office did exceptional and we thank you! - Lorena Campos

What is worth choosing

The Office of the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County is not a service you choose to hire in the traditional sense, but it is a vital part of the justice system that Maryland residents rely on. The provided reviews offer two very different perspectives, both of which contain important insights. The positive review from a victim's family member provides a powerful testament to the office's effectiveness and dedication. It highlights the work of specific staff members who were professional, informative, and responsive, ultimately leading to justice being served. This review also offers a helpful perspective on managing expectations, reminding other citizens that advocating for their own case through free resources is a shared responsibility, not just the job of the prosecutor's office.

The negative review, while not a reflection of the legal work of the office, speaks to a different kind of public interaction and highlights a very serious concern about civil liberties and access to public buildings. While this incident is deeply troubling and relates to a specific interaction with security, it is a separate issue from the legal services provided by the attorneys within the office. It's important for the public to understand this distinction. The office's primary role is prosecution, and on that front, the positive review shows that they are capable, dedicated, and effective in their core mission. For victims of crime in Anne Arundel County, the services provided, including the support of victim advocates and the vigorous prosecution of cases, make the Office of the State's Attorney a crucial and valuable resource. Their commitment to public safety and justice is the very reason they exist and serve the Maryland community.
