Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel Introduce
Navigating the legal system can be a challenging and often overwhelming experience, especially for individuals who cannot afford private legal counsel. In Florida, the justice system is designed to ensure that every person has access to legal representation, regardless of their financial status. This is where organizations like the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel play a critical role. Serving the Central Florida region, this state agency provides legal services to indigent persons in a variety of criminal and civil cases where the Public Defender's office has a conflict of interest.
The Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel was created by the Florida Legislature to provide a fiscally responsible and effective alternative to appointing private attorneys for indigent defense. Their primary mission is to safeguard constitutional principles by ensuring that all eligible individuals have access to skilled legal representation. The Casselberry office, which serves the Fifth District, including Orange and Seminole counties, is a key part of this statewide network. It represents clients in a wide range of legal matters, stepping in to provide counsel when a conflict of interest prevents the Public Defender from doing so.
This type of legal representation is distinct from a traditional private law firm. The lawyers and staff at this office are public servants, committed to upholding the rights of the individuals they are appointed to represent. Their work is crucial in maintaining a fair and balanced judicial system. They handle cases that are often complex and sensitive, from criminal defense to civil issues like guardianship and protective services. Their dedication to public service is the foundation of their work, aiming to provide a high level of professional and thorough representation to all of their clients.
The Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel's main office is located at 101 Sunnytown Rd #310, Casselberry, FL 32707, USA. This location makes it accessible to residents throughout the greater Central Florida area. Its presence in Casselberry, a central hub for Seminole County, ensures that individuals in need of legal services can find and visit the office with relative ease. The office is situated in a convenient location, providing a straightforward point of contact for clients who have been court-appointed to receive their services.
The firm is also committed to physical accessibility for all clients. The office is equipped with a wheelchair accessible entrance, a wheelchair accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair accessible restroom. These features are essential in ensuring that the legal services provided are available to every member of the community, removing potential physical barriers to seeking help. A restroom is also available for general use, contributing to a more comfortable experience for all visitors.
To ensure an organized and efficient process, appointments are recommended for those needing to visit the office. This practice allows staff to prepare for each client's specific case, ensuring that the time spent is as productive as possible. While the firm operates within a government-mandated structure, this attention to planning reflects a professional approach to case management and client interaction.
The Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel provides legal representation in a very specific set of cases. Their services are not for the general public, but for those who are indigent and have been appointed to them by a court due to a conflict with the Public Defender's Office. Their practice areas include:

When considering what is worth choosing in a law firm, it’s important to understand its purpose and constraints. The Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel is not a private firm that a client can hire. It is a government agency that provides court-appointed counsel. The reviews provided, however, shed light on potential challenges within this system. One review details a client's frustration with a specific attorney and their assistant, citing a lack of communication, missed court dates due to misinformation, and a dismissive attitude. Another review from a family member describes a "rude secretary" who continuously interrupted and hung up on them, refusing to allow them to speak to the attorney.
This feedback, while representing individual experiences, points to a potential gap between the agency's mission and its execution in certain instances. While the mission of providing legal counsel to those in need is laudable, the public reviews suggest that the day-to-day client experience can be difficult, with issues of communication and responsiveness. For individuals who are appointed legal counsel through this office, it is crucial to understand these potential challenges and to advocate for themselves by documenting all communications and remaining persistent. It also highlights the importance of the court system's oversight in ensuring that appointed counsel provides adequate and effective representation. Ultimately, the worth of choosing this agency is tied to its foundational purpose—to provide legal access to those who have none—and while the system may have flaws, it remains a vital part of Florida's judicial framework.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1if you get a lawyer from here request a new one from the court my fiancé was appointed nicole jordan and now she is sitting in jail on a miss court date because of misinformation told by her lawyer and a lawyer that prioritizes vacation and her own image than protecting her own client coupled with an assistant that would rather see you choke on your own breath than hear your concerns
July 21 · chris kottlWas appointed to my fiancé case. Extremely rude secretary answered the phone . Doesn’t allow a person to express their concerns will continuously interrupt and say there’s nothing they can do about getting a case to reflect closed on clerk of court website and when I asked to speak to the attorney she hung up on me.
May 07 · Meylee CardonaBriana Emanuel represented my loved one. She was unprofessional in the way she asked misleading and confusing questions, she took her shoes off during the hearing and laid her feet crossed over eachother to the side (in full view), she searched through her bag mid-hearing while the judge was speaking, searching for a charger for her dying tablet and had to switch seats on opposite sides of the room, causing too much commotion, in order to plug in her tablet to further represent my loved one and communicate with the judge. Would never recommend.
January 18 · Bria AyersVery unsatisfied with the attorney that was assigned to a good friend of mines and does follow through and process motions to help win his case. Seems like he's more on the state side then trying to his job as his lawyer to get him home. The state has no good evidence on if he was the one who committed the crime even though witnesses gave the description of a totally different person and victim. They are being bias due his history and not putting effort. Maybe is because it is a probono case not being paid for this case.
