It's not a well-run firm:- They took my information, then proceeded to mix up my phone number twice. Apparently leaving messages at some other number for my case.- When I hired them, I could not get them to call me or email me to confirm they would appear on my behalf in court. The DAY OF, the senior attorney called me just minutes before court.- 2nd court date, junior attorney wasn't prepared with the required documentation, so we were denied a reasonable request.- Their agreement says that clients agree to them splitting up tasks, to be more cost-efficient. However, in reality, it means clients get charged many times for a task that could have been done by a single competent attorney in one session. For example, when I asked them to withdraw, because I was not seeing the value, they managed to rack up over $2,000 in further expenses just to withdraw: Junior attorney read email, sent to paralegal. Paralegal reviewed it. Junior attorney made revisions. Senior attorney reviewed it again. Revised again, Submitted. 1.5 hour court time talking about it. I felt like *I* was paying for THEM to train their junior attorney.- When I saw the final bill and disputed it in an itemized way as required, I got no response except to keep requesting payment over and over again.- In short, they racked up $7k worth of expenses in 2 months with mostly junior level administrative tasks.- Speaking of billing, this is a pain point too. One person asks for more money. I paid. Several days later, another person "reminded" me that I need to pay. I said I already paid. "Oh, we're sorry." Then they did it several more times. My advice is to find a single attorney or a firm with a flat rate by case type. I explored a flat rate attorney that was well-reviewed and they quoted $6k. I'm now in over $10k with this firm and didn't even get good representation. I'm now pro se (representing myself) and doing just as well. - Jeremy “Smaug”

This firm presents itself as a comprehensive resource for a wide array of legal needs, aiming to be a one-stop-shop for individuals and families. By offering services in family law, criminal justice, civil law, and more, the firm seeks to provide a broad scope of expertise to the local community. This article will offer an overview of O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha, detailing its location, the services it offers, and what potential clients should consider when deciding on legal representation.

O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha is part of a larger network of law firms, with locations in both Illinois and Wisconsin. Their business model emphasizes a team-based approach, where different attorneys and paralegals with various specialties collaborate on cases. This structure is intended to provide clients with a comprehensive level of service, leveraging the collective experience of the entire firm. The firm's website mentions a commitment to being "cost-effective" and "client-focused," aiming to build personal relationships with clients and make them feel part of the firm's "family." They highlight their mission to make legal services "effective, efficient, and affordable."

However, it is important for any potential client to research a firm's reputation and business practices carefully. While the firm's website and some testimonials may paint a positive picture, it is crucial to consider all available public information. The firm's model of having multiple attorneys and paralegals work on a single case, while designed for efficiency, has also been a point of concern for some former clients. It is always wise for clients to understand the billing structure, whether it is hourly or a flat rate, and to ask for a clear breakdown of how time and expenses are managed.

When considering legal representation, a crucial part of the decision-making process is understanding what a firm is truly worth. While O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha presents itself as a versatile and client-friendly option, a potential client should be aware of a key distinction in billing models. As one reviewer noted, the firm's hourly billing model, which involves multiple professionals working on a single task, can lead to expenses that may accumulate rapidly. This is in contrast to a flat-rate billing system, where a fixed price is agreed upon for a specific service, providing clients with cost certainty. For complex and long-term cases, a flat-rate model can sometimes be more predictable than an hourly one, especially if a case takes an unexpected turn. The negative feedback regarding billing and communication, as described in one review, underscores the importance of a transparent and simple billing structure, as well as clear communication from a single, dedicated attorney.

While a firm's mission and marketing materials may sound appealing, it is vital for prospective clients to do their due diligence. This includes asking specific questions about billing practices, communication protocols, and the level of direct access to a senior attorney. The experience described by the reviewer, where they "felt like I was paying for THEM to train their junior attorney," highlights a potential risk of the firm's team-based model. For residents of Kenosha, a great choice for legal representation is a firm that provides not only a wide range of services but also clear communication, straightforward billing, and a strong sense of accountability. While O'Flaherty Law offers a broad scope of services, a prospective client should be careful to ensure that the firm's billing practices align with their financial expectations and that the proposed legal strategy is transparent and well-defined.
