Mr. Murphy represented (misrepresented) me in a lawsuit against a former employer for payment of deferred wages and repayment of personal loans. Upon reflection, it is difficult to find even one small thing that he did correctly. He deserves zero stars, and minus stars if they were available.Just four examples. (1) I gave him a list of 41 potential witnesses in addition to the company's accountant, and he never made contact with any of them. He then lied to an investigator of his actions by telling him that he had contacted many of them but that they were not favorable to me. The investigator had me review Murphy's highly detailed invoices, and they showed no contacts whatsoever. None. (2) Murphy did not tell me, even in the supposed final jury instructions he sent me the Friday before the Monday trial, that there were counterclaims of over half a million dollars. I found that out when the judge read the instructions to the jury. Murphy knew about this earlier, but never called me to rebut the other parties' bogus claims. (3) The accountant, after Murphy's brief and disastrous questioning of her, told my business partner, "If Murphy questions everyone else like he did me, Jim [me] is going to lose." Which I did. (4) Murphy charged me about $140,000 for this debacle. He still has liens on my house for unpaid last invoices that he sent me after he lost!You should also know that Mr. Murphy had his Kansas law license suspended in November 2020 for 5 major ethical violations. He is on probation until November 2022. If you've hired him and he didn't advise you of that before you hired him, you should submit a complaint to the Office of the Disciplinary Administrator in Topeka.I gave a retired district court judge a list of attorneys and asked him if there were any he would not consider competent. The only one on the list he called out was - you guessed it - Mark Murphy.
