Hiring an attorney can cause a lot of anxiety—at least it does for me. When I called Meriwether & Tharp and spoke with Renee, I immediately felt calmer. She scheduled me for a free phone case evaluation, where I spoke with one of the main partners. We went over key details to determine whether I should move forward, and ultimately I decided to do so. We also reviewed the fee schedule, which I found reasonable. My case—a Child Support Modification—was then assigned to Chris Ramsey.Throughout the process, Chris and his paralegals, Jennifer McSherry and Jennifer Cook, were excellent. From the start, I told Chris that one of the most important things to me was knowing he would “have my back,” especially if mediation became necessary. I had been through a previous modification with another law firm that went very poorly, so this was a big concern.After attempted negotiations with opposing counsel, we did end up going to mediation. Chris had explained that mediation is a “give and take” process, and I was willing to be flexible. In the end, he truly did have my back. Just as importantly, I never felt like I was being overbilled or treated like just another case number. Unlike my previous experience, I felt seen and supported as a person. It was refreshing, and I was very pleased with the outcome.
