Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers Introduce
For parents in Los Angeles County, an encounter with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) can be a terrifying and life-altering experience. When the state intervenes in family matters, parents are often thrust into a complex and intimidating legal process known as juvenile dependency court. In these situations, legal representation is not just a right—it is a necessity. This article provides an overview of Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers (LADL), a non-profit organization that plays a critical role in providing legal services to parents in these difficult cases. Understanding their function and what they offer can be the first step toward navigating the system with a knowledgeable advocate on your side.
Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a specific and vital mission: to represent parents in juvenile dependency proceedings. When a child is removed from their home due to allegations of abuse or neglect, a dependency hearing is initiated, and LADL is often appointed by the court to provide legal representation for the parents. Their work is a form of public interest law, aimed at protecting the constitutional rights of parents and working toward family reunification. As the largest organization of its kind in the nation, LADL's attorneys are appointed to represent a significant portion of parents in Los Angeles County's dependency court cases, helping them navigate a system that can often feel overwhelming and unyielding. They work to ensure that parents receive fair and reasonable opportunities to retain or regain custody of their children, with the ultimate goal of keeping families intact whenever possible.
The main office for Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers is conveniently located in Monterey Park, California, serving as a hub for their operations and a point of contact for clients. Their address is 901 Corporate Center Dr, Monterey Park, CA 91754, USA. The organization consists of an executive office and five separate law firms, with attorneys who practice law at the Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court in Monterey Park and the Alfred J. McCourtney Juvenile Justice Center in Lancaster. The office is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilet, ensuring a comfortable environment for clients with mobility challenges. Due to the nature of their work, which is primarily court-appointed, an appointment is required to ensure you can be seen by the appropriate legal professional. It is highly recommended that you schedule in advance to receive the dedicated attention you need.
LADL's services are highly specialized, focusing entirely on juvenile dependency law. Their attorneys are committed to defending the constitutionally protected relationship between parents and their children. They provide a range of services designed to support clients at every stage of their court case. The services offered include:
Court Representation: Providing expert legal representation for parents at all court hearings related to their juvenile dependency case, from the initial detention hearing to subsequent review hearings and trials.
Legal Representation: Offering vigorous advocacy to help parents fight for their rights and present their side of the story in a complex legal setting.

Appointment-Based System: The firm operates on an appointment-based system, which is crucial for the efficient management of their high volume of cases. This ensures that when a client is seen, they receive the full attention of their legal team.

When dealing with a DCFS case, having a lawyer who understands the system is invaluable. While some reviews express frustration with the process and the performance of individual attorneys, it is important to understand the context of juvenile dependency law. Cases are often fraught with emotional tension and are inherently challenging, as the deck is often perceived to be stacked in favor of the government agency. Many attorneys in this field face high caseloads and a difficult emotional environment, which can lead to communication issues, as noted in some client reviews. The nature of a system that is often seen as "rigged" can create a sense of hopelessness for parents, which may be directed at their court-appointed counsel.
However, what makes Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers a crucial resource is their specific mission and expertise. They are specialists in a field of law that requires in-depth knowledge and a unique skill set. The firm's structure, which includes social workers and investigators, is designed to provide a more robust defense than a single attorney might be able to offer. Their commitment to providing representation for indigent parents ensures that financial status does not prevent a parent from having a legal advocate in court. While the legal system can be a frustrating and slow-moving process, LADL's role is to ensure that parents are not left to face it alone. They are a mandated part of the system, created to improve the quality of representation for parents, and they remain a vital part of the Los Angeles County legal community for those facing the fight of their lives—to reunite with their children.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I can give a zero star to this organization I would do that. Every review written on this firm is true and accurate. This firm is a scam especially law offices of Emily Berger assigned an attorney to my case his name is Benjamin Falcioni. He did nothing on the case and today as a result I have lost custody of my daughter. please check their statuses of california state bar and you would get to know how bad this organization is. Please don’t trust them. It is true they have no integrity and they work against innocent parents especially mothers are so degraded and disrespected and are least helpful and supportive. Please parents post as many reviews on this firm as many as you can so that other parents can find it helpful as well.oh and I forgot I was also assigned a parent advocate cum a social worker investigator. Guess what she never investigated the social worker but would in return investigate me. Do not do not trust this firm please. Run away from dcfs and Los Angeles dependency lawyers aka LADL.
September 27 · Anne IssacHelena Rho! Worst person ever. These people do not care about getting your kids back. She never even called me to hear my story. All she would do is go off of what the social worker entered in the documents and didn’t even put up a fight for me. She would call me the same day as court and ignore all my text messages and emails during every other day. Horrible and has her karma! I hired attorney Vincent Davis! The best their is. And now things are finally turning around for me.
September 02 · Yentl LopezThey all work against you. The dependency lawyers reads off the lies written by the social worker. Martin Lee Law Firm dependency lawyer Mr. Michael Green and his supervisor Lori Davis just sits back and hear what the county counsel representing DCFS got to say. The dependency lawyers will not support you with visitation or trying to plea your case with evidence. They all work together (DCFS, dependency lawyer, children counsel, the court) to prolong to the case so they can all get paid by the government. The emotional distress and psychological abuse the children have to endure with the lies DCFS social worker Wade Shinn, Yolanda Hilario, and Alejandra Gandarilla Herrera states in court documents. They will commit perjury and the dependency lawyer will state this is the not court house for this. Then when you lose custody based on false allegations, the dependency lawyer and his supervisor state to wait 6 months to take it back to Family court. We didn't want no 6 months and took it back to Family Court as soon as custody was lost. Went to family court, and the judge recognized all the errors and biased conducted and regain full custody of the children.
July 26 · vantriste 23Very rude unprofessional individuals. The female individual I spoke with has no patience nor knows how to be professional. Had a very short temper and rudely hangs up. Apparently being rude to other people is funny to her also. Provide better communication and phone etiquette skills to your insolent staff.
February 16 · Mario MoralesNever had a single lawyer that was consecutive for 2 hearings in a row. Always got a new lawyer so nobody ever knew my case but they pretended to have read it. They get paid by the same people that sign the social workers check and the judges check. Guaranteed that they work against you and your children. If I were able to I would give less than one star.
