So, what makes Legal Assistance of Dakota County worth choosing? The primary factor is its role as a key provider of free civil legal services for those who would otherwise have no access to legal help. The reviews from real customers provided here show a mixed experience, with some clients expressing frustration with communication and service delivery. It is important to understand that non-profit legal aid organizations often operate with limited resources and are under immense pressure due to high demand. They are a non-profit, not a private firm, and this distinction means they are often the only option for people in dire circumstances. The frustration expressed in the reviews about delayed callbacks and perceived lack of attention likely stems from the heavy workload and limited capacity of a service that is in constant high demand. For individuals who meet the income requirements, Legal Assistance of Dakota County represents a crucial lifeline for legal advice and representation on serious civil matters. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1They suck! I contacted them, filled out intake, etc. They said someone would call back sithin a week to get more detailed info. Nope. 3 weeks later someone emailed me back (because I was consistently calling them because I never heard back)..the email said they are researching my case and would get back to me in a week at the latest. Nope! Wrong again! I called and emailed and left v.m's. Nithing. I called the day before my hearing ( cuz they had 6 weeks) and I was crying begging someone to get back to me for advice and maybe something I could use in court. No one called back. The morning of my court, I emailed them one more time and said I did everything I could do. I got intouch with them immediately, left messages, did intake, etc and you dropped the ball. I would have taken 10 minutes if that was offered! I was IN COURT and they called when court was already going on (of course my phone was off bcuz the court makes you do that), so AFTER court I had a message in the middle of court, and they said hmmm, uh maybe try this, xy and z. IM THE ONE THAT TOLD THEM WHAT I WAS GOING TO QUOTE TO THE JUDGE so all they did was repeat what I said! They are not too busy where they couldnt give me 10 minutes of their time in 6 weeks. Dakota county legal aid is a joke!

February 21 · JacquelineSadly, waited weeks for even a call back. Told me they'd have an answer for me in 4 days... a month ago. Still no answer. It's really sad, they run your time out before your court date, which will screw me over. No suggestions for me, NOTHING. If I wasn't from this country, I'd be at the top of the list.I'm disabled, poor. She did tell me however "it's expensive, but you could try a mediator" REALLY?! SERIOUSLY?!

February 10 · MaryroseI've been waiting 2 almost 3 years to get assistance with my divorce. They contacted me several months ago saying I'm on top of the list. I haven't heard from anyone since I've left several messages. This is ridiculous at this point!
