Douglas H Cody Reviews
I have been represented by both Doug Cody and Ed Pfursich for criminal and family law and I must say I am beyond pleased with their work. Doug Cody is the most humble lawyer I have ever had. He is well respected by the DA and every judge he comes in contact with. He personally contacts you to update your case. As well as to see how I was doing. There is nothing negative I have to say about him what so ever. I highly suggest Doug Cody to represent anyone who has a criminal case! As for Ed Pfursich, he is representing me for family law. He personally keeps in contact with me as well, and even took the time to come to my home due to an accident I was in which prevented me from driving to him. He is the best family law lawyer I have ever had! He gives you complete confidence in your case and on point with the outcome. He sure does not mess around either. I highly suggest Ed for anyone going through a custody battle. Talk about putting your mind at ease through such a personal and sensitive situation! I'm not just talking them up for the hell of it either. I have no regrets with either one of my attorneys, Mr. Cody and Mr. Pfursich! If your looking for the best of the best in either criminal or family law, don't look any further and contact their office! I promise you will be 100% pleased! Big shout out to Doug and Ed ! You both are amazing lawyer's and get the job done! The best in PA !

November 03 · ElizabethI was recommended to Doug Cody by several friends and family members. I hired him to take my boyfriends case, I paid the $100 free for a prison visit and $900 after that as a retainer and to have him at the arraignment. Doug was a nice and I seemed hopeful at first. This arraignment was one of the only times I was able to speak with Doug personally. Every time I had a question or wanted to check on the status of things, I was directed to his paralegal. Which is fine, however, I received several email responses from her that looked like text messages written by my 13 year old niece instead of a professional whose firm is being paid hundreds of dollars for a service. Certain questions would simply not be answered and I was often told “these things take time.” Which I understand, however I would have appreciated simply having my questions answered rather than being made to feel like I was a bother. At this point I was having extremely bad feelings about this firm, but I was trying to remain hopeful. I paid another fee of $775 and this(I was told by the lady at the front desk whom I paid) would take me through the process of getting my boyfriend into mental health court and if he was not accepted, I would pay another fee for what came next. Ok. I paid.A few weeks later, I was told I would be better off dropping their firm and taking on a public defender. That, basically they couldn’t do anything.Which in my mind, I thought-pay for a good lawyer- get a better outcome. We were given a public defender and I called Cody’s office on several occasions to see about getting some of my $775 back. This was right around the start of COVID, I was a bartender and obviously could not longer work and was waiting on unemployment and trying to make ends meet while my significant other was in jail. I was told by the receptionist that she would get back to me and was going to email Doug about it. I also sent at least one email to Doug and the paralegal, Carmen. I called again after that and still, no answer.I even mentioned that I understood if a fee needed to be taken from the $775 for whatever they may have done in that time(which didn’t seem like much of anything!) but that I should definitely be reimbursed something as they did not get my boyfriend into mental health court or even get him evaluated for it- as they stated the fee was for. The public defender however-got it all done and had him out of jail within a month or two after dealing with Cody’s office for over 4 months with nothing. My main reason for this is say be careful. Make sure you know what the fees are for and maybe ask for some kind of receipt that states what they are for specifically. Maybe this is an isolated incident, but I know for sure this one firm I would never recommend! Especially if you’re like me and need to be clear on things and have a lot of questions. They made me feel annoying for asking questions and refused to reimburse me anything during a time when I could barely keep up with bills let alone feed myself! Not their fault, no. But, considering I never even got a response that said, “No, we cannot give you your money back because x, y and z.” I was simply, until this very day, never given the decency of a response at all!!! Which makes me believe, I very well should have gotten my money back and they are just greedy people!
