UPDATE:As of July 9th, 2024 Barks Law Firm has made things right and completed the paperwork we needed. Stuart was super nice and sincerely apologized for the mishandling of our matter. I accept that apology and am updating my review to reflect that. Angie however, still needs to work on her customer service.Mr. Jim Barks handled my elderly mother's estate planning back in 2018. My mother has since decided to make some changes which required an amendment to her paperwork. I immediately reached out to Barks Law Firm, knowing Jim had retired and his son had taken over. I had a phone meeting with Stuart Barks on May 24, 2024 to explain what we needed. Stuart assured me this was a super easy and he could handle it with ease. Weeks went by with no word from him or his office. When I called to follow up I was told by Angie that Stuart was out of the country for a couple weeks. A little annoyed that our matter had not been addressed prior to him leaving since it was so easy according to him, I waited. It has been another 3 weeks since his return date to the country and I am getting no response to emails or phone messages. The office phone goes straight to voicemail and voicemails go unanswered. I am now looking for another attorney to handle this matter since it is holding up the entire process and my elderly mother has been left in limbo for over a month by this law firm. I dealt with Jim for years through former employer and he was always very prompt and professional. Unfortunately I have not had the same experience from his son since he has taken over the firm.

The Barks Law Firm was extremely helpful when we used them for the sale of our house. They made all the paperwork easy to follow and explained all the information necessary. Stuart Barks and the entire staff was helpful and flexible even when the buyer had to re-arrange the closing schedule due to their financing issue. We hired Barks Law Firm to assist us with selling a business and the property where the business was located. The buyer extended the initial contract several times. Each time an extension was requested, we received excellent advice about how to proceed. As the closing approached, the buyer requested additional postponements and contract revisions. Barks Law Firm was attentive to our issues, reviewed all documents and provided expert advice. We were often able to speak to someone almost immediately, but when that was not possible, our messages were returned promptly and our documents were reviewed in a timely manner.
