Avoid using Diane Prevete as your attorney. I retained her to protect my interests and she failed miserably. She was retained for a simple residential closing and missed a significant component of the purchase; namely that I was to have beach access rights. This valuable right was clearly mentioned in the contract of sale as well as the title report - which she clearly didnt bother to read. As a result, the access rights were left off the deed. I now have to retain new counsel to amend the deed. As a further insult, when this was brought to her attention, she saw fit to attempt to charge me an additional $700.00 to correct her mistake. - Carla Pellegrino

Services Offered

Albanese & Albanese is a firm that focuses on several key areas of law. While it is categorized as an "Attorney," its practice areas suggest a focus on both transactional and litigation-based legal work. The services listed indicate that the firm assists clients with matters that are critical to personal and business operations in New York.

  • Civil Litigation: The firm handles civil litigation, which involves legal disputes between two or more parties. This can cover a wide range of issues, such as breach of contract, property disputes, and other disagreements that do not involve criminal charges. In this capacity, the firm represents clients in court and works to negotiate settlements or secure judgments that protect their interests.

  • Real Estate Finance: A significant portion of the firm's practice is dedicated to real estate finance. This involves the legal aspects of financing for property transactions. This could include representing clients in obtaining mortgages, structuring real estate investments, or handling complex loan agreements. Expertise in this area is crucial for both individual homebuyers and commercial real estate developers in the competitive New York market.

  • Trusts and Estates: The firm also provides legal services related to trusts and estates. This is a critical area of law that involves the planning and administration of an individual's assets and property. Services in this field may include drafting wills, establishing trusts, and handling probate proceedings. This type of legal work helps clients ensure their assets are managed and distributed according to their wishes, providing peace of mind for the future.

  • Litigation and Appeals: The firm has experience in litigation and appeals. This means that if a client has an adverse ruling from a lower court, the firm can assist in the appeals process to have the decision reviewed by a higher court. This service is vital for clients who believe there was a legal error in their original case and want to pursue a new outcome.

These practice areas highlight the firm's involvement in some of the most common legal issues that people face, particularly in a high-value real estate market like New York.

While the firm has a strong professional profile, it is important for potential clients to conduct their own due diligence, as a single negative review regarding one attorney in the firm, Diane Prevete, highlights the importance of individual attorney performance. This serves as a reminder that while a firm may be well-established, the individual attorney's work is what directly impacts the client's outcome.

What is Worth Choosing

Choosing a law firm for legal matters in New York requires careful consideration. Albanese & Albanese is a firm with a professional profile and a clear focus on several key areas of law that are highly relevant to both individuals and businesses in the region.

A significant advantage of this firm is its specialization in civil litigation, real estate finance, and trusts and estates. For those needing assistance with these specific types of cases, the firm's dedicated practice in these areas may offer a level of expertise that a more generalized practice might not. This focus allows them to stay abreast of the latest legal developments and precedents in their chosen fields, which can be beneficial for clients.

Additionally, the firm’s commitment to accessibility is a valuable feature. By ensuring their office is accommodating to all clients, they demonstrate a client-first approach that is both professional and inclusive. This attention to detail in the physical environment suggests a similar level of care in their legal practice.

However, it is also important to consider the client feedback available. The negative review regarding a specific attorney, Diane Prevete, highlights a potential risk related to communication and attention to detail. This type of feedback underscores the importance of not only choosing a reputable firm but also ensuring that the individual attorney assigned to your case is a good fit. It is always wise to ask questions during the initial consultation about the attorney's specific experience and track record with cases similar to your own. While the firm has a broad practice, the individual performance of each lawyer is what ultimately determines the client's experience and outcome. For those in New York, a thorough consultation is a critical step in deciding if Albanese & Albanese, and the specific attorney you would be working with, is the right choice for your legal needs.
